In MMA it’s a lot less intimidating because it’s not like you get one shot at a title every four years. You get a title shot every couple of months ... With the Olympics, you don’t always have this, so there is so much more pressure involved.

We see fighters fight their whole career and never get a title shot. It doesn't matter if they rack up 10 wins if people think they're boring. We all know how it works.
It makes me very, very happy to get someone a world title shot, which I've done with a few fighters, or a European title shot or a British title, and I see them lift that belt above their waist and they come to me and say 'Thanks Ricky. I've just paid my mortgage off with that.' That's what its all about.
I know, every fighter knows, you've got to pile up wins in a row. You can't lose two in a row, three in a row and then you hear mentions of losing your job.
It took me 10 fights to get the damn interim title shot and then 11 to get an undisputed shot.
Let's be real: it's not always the No. 1 contenders who get the title shots. It's who they invest money in and who's kind of a known name. In the lighter weights, just being that I fought seven title fights in a row, I think I'm that guy.
If we can string together some wins this year, maybe I'll be a close second-or third behind Bart Starr-on their favorite quarterback list.
This sport is growing. It's about patience, rather than getting caught up in five in a row, want a title shot, main event. The goal is to put on a great fight and be smart.
The title shot, the way I look at it is I just have to go out there and do my job. If I keep winning fights, there's no way they can't give me that title shot.
I'm not going to change who I am or the way I promote fights just to get a title shot, but I think I've done plenty to earn that shot.
I'd have moments when I'd show potential, but I could never get a good period where I'd string some form together and get results. It was up and down the whole time and I was getting frustrated.
You could have 20 wins in a row, and if you lose your next one, you suck now, according to how the fans are.
I'd like to fight and get close to that title shot - that's all I'm interested in. My whole purpose is to fight for the world title.
It's not my decision, what goes on with who gets a title shot. I mean, some people get their shots in two or three fights. They're pretty lucky. I wish I could be like them.
I can get a title shot any time I want to. They know I can beat 110% of the champions out there right now. I just have to be motivated. Most of them are going to be trying to not give me a shot.
