There are so many varieties of films. You've got the jet-lagged films, where you fly to Bulgaria or wherever and get off the plane, and they bring you right to the set, and you start working, even though I don't even know my name, it's been such a long flight. Then there's the alimony films. But after you've been doing this long enough, you've gotten into every kind of situation you can imagine, even to the point where there is basically no script, so you have to kind of do it scene by scene and survive.
After six, seven films, I started to get a little tired. Shooting takes a lot out of you.
Usually, in many films, only the hero's character is of importance, and the others may not be as significant. But in 'Kaala,' there are at least six characters that will have a huge impact and will stay with you even after the movie.
I want to be a part of films that will be watched even after twenty years.
I don't watch my old films. It's over and done with. I'm proud of my films, but who watches their movies after 20 years?
Years ago I was on television having a discussion with Billy Graham about atheism. He was saying, even if you're right and I'm wrong, and there's nothing after, I will have had a better life than you, because I do believe there was something. And I couldn't argue with that, even though I wanted to.
I fail to understand why the #MeToo campaign in India didn't gain momentum when Malayalam actor Dileep was arrested after an actress was abducted and assaulted or when Telugu actress Sri Reddy was banned for talking about sexual harassment. These instances were more deserving of the #MeToo movement than anything else.
I am crazy about my own films. The films I've just made I'm crazy about them. But then I don't see them for many years. It's like when you get a new child you're very crazy about this child but then after a few years you're like, "what was its name again?"
