I want to play my Joker. Not the Joker, but my Joker. Somebody who can have fun doing wrong. — © Sam Richardson
I want to play my Joker. Not the Joker, but my Joker. Somebody who can have fun doing wrong.
My dream role is to play in a story of how the Joker became the Joker, and I would play the young Heath Ledger.
The Joker is a tremendous vehicle for talented actors. Cesar Romero's was a bubbly, lunatic criminal. Nicholson did him as a vain, preening manipulator. Heath's performance of the Joker was remarkable, too. His was a low-simmering crazy street clown. Joker can be played all these ways, and they're all true.
I can like Jack Nicolson's Joker, and I can like Heath Ledger's Joker. There's other Jokers I don't have to like.
The voice has been my joker card that sometimes has played like an ace and sometimes a joker. When you sing the way I sing, it's impossible to get people to talk about anything else.
So once I thought of the villain with a sense of humor, I began to think of a name and the name "the Joker" immediately came to mind. There was the association with the Joker in the deck of cards, and I probably yelled literally, 'Eureka!' because I knew I had the name and the image at the same time.
When I was younger, I used to love Tim Burton's 'Batman.' I was, like, 15, and even then, I was aware, 'This is really the Joker's film.' It's like, the Joker just takes over, and Batman, you really don't learn too much about him.
We were facing a financial crunch in the early 1970s because Mera Naam Joker' didn't work and we suffered huge losses due to that. My father was very fond of Mera Naam Joker' and made it with a lot of passion, love and money according to those days. But it flopped.
There was never a moment where I was intentionally cribbing from another actor. More so, I grew up watching other actors design the character of The Joker to me, and obviously, the part was paying tribute to The Joker, and so I wanted to, you know, perform it to the best of my abilities in a way that it seemed to be paying homage to the character.
Perhaps there is a reason that there is no fool piece on the chessboard. What action, a fool? What strategy, a fool? What use, a fool? Ah, but a fool resides in a deck of cards, a joker, sometimes two. Of no worth, of course. No real purpose. The appearance of a trump, but none of the power: Simply an instrument of chance. Only a dealer may give value to the joker.
You can't tell a Batman story without the Joker, and you can't tell a Joker story without Batman. They're just the symbols of the best and worst of humanity.
I wouldn't want to be Superman. Batman would be cool. But the one I've always wanted to play is the Joker. There is a maniacal and dangerous side to me.
It's great fun being an academic because you have a certain licence to be a bit of a joker.
Michael Jackson was a joker to his core. He loved a good joke especially if it's displayed on somebody else.
I'd like to be a superhero or a supervillain in a huge action movie. I want to play, like, the Joker or something like that.
I'm definitely a joker.
I'm an efficient striker, but I'm not a joker.
