Being able to choose the skin I live in was the draw of fashion. — © Stacy London
Being able to choose the skin I live in was the draw of fashion.
In order to be able to live at all in America I must be unafraid to live anywhere in it, and I must be able to live in the fashion and with whom I choose.

People have to work to maintain happiness. It's easy to be miserable. It's easy to stay miserable. It's easy to live in a place where nothing's working and not being able to work your way out of it. It's much harder to choose happiness, to choose laughter, to choose a positive.

In the space between stimulus (what happens) and how we respond, lies our freedom to choose. Ultimately, this power to choose is what defines us as human beings. We may have limited choices but we can always choose. We can choose our thoughts, emotions, moods, our words, our actions; we can choose our values and live by principles. It is the choice of acting or being acted upon.
There was a great deal of peer recognition to be gained in elementary school by being able to draw well. One girl could draw horses so well, she was looked upon as a kind of sorceress.
You need to live life to be able to have something to draw from.
Nowadays, you don't need to live in a fashion capital of the world, have lots of money, or be able to shop during certain hours. With online retail, it's possible to browse and shop for fashion anytime of the day, from pretty much anywhere.
I know what I am able and not able to do. Fashion? OK. Fashion... clothes in theatre, in an opera, in a concert - all that I love. To make a movie myself... no!
The fashion industry is no more able to preserve a style that men and women have decided to abandon than to introduce one they do not choose to accept.
Fashion is much more open minded to duskier skin, but I do not think they are prejudiced in any way to fair skin either.
