We put everything we have into the offseason.
I think the offseason, it's an offseason, but it's where you can excel and where you can pass guys. It's something I always take super serious.
I know the work that I put in the offseason correlates to the season.
When it's time to focus in and play ball during the season, 100% of my focus is on that. When it's the offseason and I've got time to be away and I can do other interests - they don't conflict. I'm good at compartmentalizing. I can put everything in its appropriate box at the time and open it up when I need to at a later time.
I've always felt like I know how much I've put into every offseason.
You always want to put time and thought into how guys can improve during the offseason.
What makes me relaxed is the fact that I know I've put in a lot of time during the offseason on my fitness.
I go out and put in a load during the offseason so I know what I'm going to be able to do, as long as I stay healthy, when it comes time for the season.
I feel good, and the way I determine it is through my workout. I work so hard in the offseason that if I'm able to do everything I have to, I figure I must be healthy.
Whoever is in the best shape, whoever has put in the most work in the offseason is going to have a little bit of an edge, especially the first few games.
My senior year I felt I put a lot more time into the offseason to make a lot more happen. Going out my senior year, I felt like I did everything I wanted to do and more. I felt like I dominated and I feel comfortable going to the next level and that I'm ready.
So, if I give any credit, besides giving all credit to God, for being totally healthy, it's just my workout and how much torture I put my body through in the offseason.
I've put myself in the best possible positions through my daily training and my recovery processes and my offseason regimen and preparation. I break down when I have these freak injuries happen, when the hard work is basically thrown out.
That's why we play. That's why we train. That's why we do everything in the offseason. It is to win a World Series.
I'm just going to continue focusing on becoming a better football player, attacking the offseason with the mindset of getting stronger and doing everything that I can to show that when the time comes, I'm ready to play football.
If you put everything together as far as my mind, my body, my game. If you put everything in one bottle, this is probably the best I've been.
Garrett and I are just completely different in everything. I'm very organized and so when I come home, I like to put everything in a proper place and put it away, so you don't see it.
