I love hitting-that's my favorite part of the game.
I think everyone's favorite part of the game is hitting - especially when you're having success - considering it's so hard to do.
To me, the fun part of hitting is the thinking part. It's the game within the game.
There is no question that in the '50s and '60s, black players got thrown at more. That's not a negative comment. It may come out that way, but that's the way it was. Hitting another player was part of the game; hitting a player in the head is not.
I have to say my relationship with the horses is the biggest thing, and it grows. I love horses more and more every day, and I'm breeding, so when I'm playing a horse that's the son of a horse, the daughter of a horse I used to play, it's like bonding. So I think that's the most amazing part of it. It's the passion that we polo players have for the horses first, and then the game and the strategy of the game and winning and the team and your teammates, all of those things are a big part of it, but the horses are my favorite part.
There is more to the game than hitting it far. There are ways to make birdies other than hitting 350-yard drives. I pride myself on a good short game; I work very hard at it.
When the ball is over the middle of the plate, the batter is hitting it with the sweet part of the bat. When it's inside, he's hitting it with the part of the bat from the handle to the trademark. When it's outside, he's hitting it with the end of the bat. You've got to keep the ball away from the sweet part of the bat. To do that, the pitcher has to move the hitter off the plate.
So my favorite part of the industry was always the drama, the trash-talk, all that kind of stuff. And if you can throw in hard-hitting action on the back end of that, that's amazing.
Hitting is the most important part of the game. It is where the big money is, where much of the status is, and the fan interest.
I don't have a favorite part. My current part is my favorite part. And when I do the next thing, that will be my favorite part.
Tackling is my favorite part of the game.
I love practice, I love hitting, I love the game.
I love books and going to bookstores. My favorite sound is the sound of the needle hitting the record.
The bouncer shouldn't be banned. Hitting batsmen, I'm afraid, is part of the game. But it's the histrionics, the nonsense, the prancing, the in-your-face nastiness. It's become accepted, and actually it's not acceptable at all.
Do you know what my favorite part of the game is? The opportunity to play.
Defense is my favorite part of the game and what I want to be known for.
The beginning of my love for football goes back to when I was seven years old. I was spending time with my grandmother, Caletha Vick. I never knew anything about the game until one Sunday afternoon when she turned on the television because the Redskins were playing. They were my Uncle Casey's favorite team-and my grandmother's favorite too. After watching the game with them, I was hooked.
