I am not somebody who feels comfortable socialising at parties where many film stars gather and endlessly chat, because I am quite introverted.
I might not be over-enthusiastic about socialising and making friends, but I am not a loner. I love hanging out with my friends, and I do it often when I am not working. Maybe, since I am not often invited to the 'happening' parties of our industry, where the media is around, I have earned the reputation of being a loner.
One reason why I've taken 11 years to make my second Hindi film is because I am comfortable working with the stars in the South, as they are with me.
I am not a people person. It's not that I am shy, but I am more comfortable in an atmosphere of one-on-one. I hate crowds and parties.
I am - Somebody. I may be poor, but I am - Somebody! I may be on welfare, but I am - Somebody! I may be uneducated, but I am - Somebody! I must be, I'm God's child. I must be respected and protected. I am black and I am beautiful! I am - Somebody! Soul Power!
I am comfortable with myself, and this is how I am. I am not really interested in having an acrimonious fight with somebody.
My work is made on lines similar to those of a film production. A lot of my work is kind of bureaucratic, endlessly phoning up people, trying to find the cameraman and the lighting man, because I am a total technology-phobe, quite helpless with equipment.
I have no complaints. I am comfortable and satisfied. I am not the kind of person who reaches for the moon as long as I have the stars.
i am perfect because i am inseparable from the infinite, the force of life that creates the stars and the entire universe of light. i am God's creation. i don't need to be what i am not.
Rather than spend millions getting film stars, I am quite happy to be brand ambassador myself.
I don't have a manager or a publicist and am hardly seen at film parties. I am not ambitious.
The truth is 'Akaash Vani' was not a young film. The second half of the film was quite mature. It's unfortunate that not many people have seen the film, so I am still associated more with 'Youth Centric Films'.
With me, even if my life depended on it, I wouldn't be able to cry. Not with somebody there. Because even if I'm talking about bad and upsetting things, if there is somebody else in the room, I am trying to entertain them. If there is somebody there, I am in performance mode. I can only cry if I am on my own.
I am quite comfortable in my own skin and I am also a secure person.
I am quite comfortable with the way I look and I am not doing anything to change people's perception.
'Slumdog Millionaire' was as good or as bad any Bollywood film. If I had to rate it, I would give it just 5.5 points out of 10. Unlike others, I am not gung-ho about the film winning so many Oscars. Yes, I am happy that I was a part of the project, but I am yet to figure out why it got so many Oscars.
I am quite comfortable doing a fashion shoot in a bikini. It's no big deal. But on the film's set, with a hundred people milling around, I got nervous.
