A Quote by Bill Watterson

Form follows function, as the architects say. With words and pictures, you can do just about anything. — © Bill Watterson
Form follows function, as the architects say. With words and pictures, you can do just about anything.
My work is not about 'form follows function,' but 'form follows beauty' or, even better, 'form follows feminine.'
My work is not about "form follows function," but "form follows beauty" or, even better, "form follows feminine."
Good design is not about form following function. It is function with cultural content. By adding "cultural content" to the concept of "form follows function," objects cease to be finite or predictable. Maybe the right way to interpret the dictum is to first acknowledge that the function needs to be clearly understood before the form is considered.
Intrinsic value follows meaning follows form follows economics follows function follows more economics follows market research.
Form follows function - that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.
If form follows function, as we know it does in this Universe, then consciousness will adapt to whatever form it requires in order to function. Hopefully, it will also develop its fundamental function; what that is may be debatable within many schools of thought, but it is indisputable that evolved thinking recognizes the universality of Life.
Pictures are the idea in visual or pictorial form; and the idea has to be legible, both in the individual picture and in the collective context - which presupposes, of course, that words are used to convey information about the idea and the context. However, none of this means that pictures function as illustrations of an idea: ultimately, they are the idea. Nor is the verbal formulation of the idea a translation of the visual: it simply bears a certain resemblance to the meaning of the idea. It is an interpretation, literally a reflection.
The form follows the function.
Form follows function.
Form ever follows function.
Form follows finances instead of function.
Form follows function straight to hell.
Whatever it is about pictures, photographs, it's just about impossible to follow up with words. They don't have anything to do with each other.
'Form follows function' comes with so much baggage. It's a worthless phrase because you'll never take it for what it means.
There is something about the medium [in comics] that allows for a simulation of actual experience with the added benefit of actually reading. You're reading pictures, but you are also looking at them. It's a sort of combined activity that I can't really think of any other medium having, other than, say, a foreign film when you are reading and seeing. It allows for all sorts of associations that might not come up with just words or just pictures.
Comics are words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures.
