I started presenting when I was 16, and because TV is such a small world, you often end up working with the same people. I would say I've worked with pretty much the same circle of people ever since, so in a way I have always felt cradled by them, protected; they've looked out for me because they've known me since I was a child.
It all started back in '69 when I worked with Jack Nitzche on 'Performance.' That was my first experience of doing soundtracks, and I've enjoyed doing them ever since.
You know what your trouble is? You're the kind who always reads the handbook. Anything people build, any kind of technology, it's going to have some specific purpose. Then I got into commercials and TV. Once I started, I loved doing it. It's just something that I've continuted over the years, and I love it.
