In the sales profession, the real work begins after the sale is made.
Too often, sales reps simply regurgitate their presentations and expect to land the sale. It doesn't work.
Selling is a person-to-person business. You cannot send the sales manual out to make the sale. Sales manuals have no legs and no voice.
The traditional selling models, methods, and techniques that most of us have been trained to use work best in small sales. For now, let me define small as a sale which can normally be completed in a single call and which involves a low dollar value. I'm a sucker for a sale. I don't understand why anyone wants to pay full price for anything because everything goes on sale. I love sale websites. In fact - this is almost kind of embarrassing - I'm coming from an Isabel Marant sample sale.
I've never made a dime from a record sale in the history of my record deal. I've been very happy with my sales, and certainly my audience has been very supportive. I make a living going out and playing shows.
My father - a Lebanese-origin small businessman - had a stroke in 1997 and couldn't work anymore. I paused my career and made sure he was taken care of by overseeing the sale of his businesses, but after that, I was able to dedicate myself to politics. It's what I had always wanted.
A coxcomb begins by determining that his own profession is the first; and he finishes by deciding that he is the first of profession.
The top salesperson in the organization probably missed more sales than 90% of the sales people on the team, but they also made more calls than the others made.
Life has not changed much after marriage. I went straight back to work. But I guess changes come after having a baby, not after marriage, especially if you are married to the right person who understands your lifestyle and profession.
The sale begins when the customer says yes.
My hair looks like it had been purchased at a rummage sale after all the real hair was gone.
