I'm very drawn to characters who are very flawed. I'm less interested in characters who are just good or bad, because to me then they're not real people.
I am drawn to characters that go on journeys, characters that are real people, that have life.
I'm drawn to female characters, not all of them are strong characters. Raw pain alarms. us. It reminds us that life isn't as orderly as we'd hoped. We demand that pain settle down before we shuffle it off to the quiet table. We want pain to stay in its own little section, want to keep it from spilling over into the other parts of life. Just like . lunch trays. Keep pain in its own little compartment.
I seem to be drawn to these smaller forms, and I seem to be drawn to things that can be written and also read in one sitting.
