Write like a motherfucker. — © Cheryl Strayed
Write like a motherfucker.
Like most people raised on American movies, I have poor access to my emotions, but can banter like a motherfucker.
I felt like it needed some color down there, so I painted the walls with the motherfucker.
When asked, "How do you write?" I invariably answer, "One word at a time," and the answer is invariably dismissed. But that is all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope.
I said, "It seems like you have fond feelings toward your ex-wife. Are you two still close?" "Nah," he said casually. "She thinks I changed my name to Motherfucker."
Truth is a troublesome motherfucker unless it's handled properly
You messed with the wrong white girl, motherfucker!” Tyler shouted.
I write because I have an innate need to. I write because I can't do normal work. I write because I want to read books like the ones I write. I write because I am angry at everyone. I write because I love sitting in a room all day writing. I write because I can partake of real life only by changing it.
my goal is to always come from a place of love ...but sometimes you just have to break it down for a motherfucker
Yo! You’re my dope dealer not my thesis adviser. If I wanted your opinion about my dissertation, I’d have asked for it, Motherfucker!
Writing is a weird thing because we can read, we know how to write a sentence. It's not like a trumpet where you have to get some skill before you can even produce a sound. It's misleading because it's hard to make stories. It seems like it should be easy to do but it's not. The more you write, the better you're going to get. Write and write and write. Try not to be hard on yourself.
When I find the motherfucker who tortured an innocent cat to death just to send us a warning, I'm going to clobber him with a baseball bat
I can't write anything for myself. I can write when I hear like [John] Coltrane play something; I used to write chords and stuff for him to play in one bar. I can write for other people, but I don't never write for myself.
I don't have to beat you. I don't have to beat you, motherfucker. I just have to keep you here... until Jean shows up.
Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherfucker who plays it is 80 percent.
Though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil, for I am the evilest motherfucker in the valley
Write against patterns. Go against the devils. Write what you never write. Lie. Validate what you don’t validate. Indulge what you don’t like. Wallow in it. Write the opposite of what you always write, think, speak. Do everything against the grain!
