When you are new, it is difficult to get momentum and get to know your team-mates when you are not regularly in the team.
The team doctor, the team trainers, they work for the team. And I love 'em, you know. They're some good people, you know. They want to see you do good. But at the same time, they work for the team, you know. They're trying to do whatever they can to get you back on the field and make your team look good.
I'm always a big advocate for adapting to your new team, your new country and your new team-mates.
Of course, I enjoy assisting my team-mates because playing no.10 is the position you have to serve your team-mates.
At the start, it was a bit difficult to come to Chelsea, a new club in a new league with very good players. It was very difficult to get into the team, but I did a lot of things to try and settle quick into the club, the team, the area.
It is much easier to get over your mistakes when you know you have the confidence of your manager and your team-mates.
When a team tells you we’re going to let you get your option regardless if you get it or not, that’s a message to you as to what you need to do in order to make this team or to be on this team next year.
You have to think for your team-mates and give them positive response. Whatever happens as a captain you have to take the responsibility. Backing my team-mates and supporting them was the biggest learning.
The second season is always easier than the first one. When you change, it's always more difficult. You have to adapt to the way your team plays; you have to adapt to your team-mates, to the league, to the referees.
I could've had moments when I could've said, "You know what? Let me make another film; this is taking a long time to get distributed." It can be difficult to stay passionate. You have to be that passionate and be prepared for it to get what it deserves. Make sure you have a really good team going in at the beginning and don't have people in your team that aren't there 100%.
To train a national team, you have to know what team you have at your disposal and what this team is capable of. You need to get the best out of them and take them as far as possible. Yet, sometimes, you can't achieve your goals.
When you are not playing, you need to train harder. You need to keep faith. And when you come into the team, you have to do exactly what your team-mates are doing to help the team achieve something.
You need experience around you when you are a young player. You need to know how to run a team, to lead a team and to play as a team which means, your team has leaders but you still function as a team.
You need a little time, the usual sort of time it takes to get to know your team-mates and the league itself, but it's all good, generally. I'm very happy.
The only important thing is your performance. If you perform well, then you get the respect of your team-mates.
You cannot compare the way someone plays for a club and for a national team. At a club, you spend every day with the same players. In a national team, you are with your team-mates for only a few days.
In every team, you have to win the respect of your team-mates, working a lot and really sweat blood.
