The Loden in Vancouver, where I stayed when I was filming 'The Arrow,' is a family-run hotel with a fantastic restaurant, great facilities, and brilliant people.
I love Franschhoek, and straight off the plane, I went to the incomparable Quartier Francais, on the main street, for breakfast. This small hotel and restaurant is regularly near the top of every poll for best hotel and restaurant in Africa.
I've adjusted to being mostly situated in Vancouver now, which I love, and to the fandom that comes along with it. At some points when we're filming in Vancouver, there are more than 100 fans outside our scene. It's so cool being able to be a part of something where people are so passionate.
What's great about this hotel [Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, CA] is that I stayed here for a month when I was competing on the Oprah reality show. So it's like coming home.
The innovations are changing now, drastically. I remember coming to Toronto from Vancouver, and on any given night in the '70s, '80s and early '90s, everything was closed at ten o'clock. There was no drinking on Sundays. Unless you stayed at a hotel, then you could get a drink.
In Positano, I like the San Pietro Hotel, which is run by a friend whose family has owned the hotel for more than 100 years.
I went from basically filming in my bedroom by myself, filming some funny videos, and then overnight, I switched into filming in some studios and some warehouses and family homes. I started filming with directors and producers and editors, and there were so many people in the room, so it was definitely weird.
I think everyone that's from Cleveland knows exactly where they were when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Finals. I was filming a movie, 'The Marine 5: Battleground,' up in Vancouver, so I couldn't be at the game, but I watched it in my hotel room with my wife - who could care less, by the way, about basketball because she's from Montreal.
People are the core of every business. Businesses are based on relationships, and relationships are based on people. I would go to an average restaurant run by amazing people over an outstanding restaurant run by awful people.
We stay in U2's hotel. They bought a hotel, The Clarence, a nice place and it's in an area where everything's happening, so many fantastic restaurants and bars and the people are so friendly.
I've stayed in so many hotel rooms that I'm shocked if, when I stay in a hotel room, the hotel phone isn't on the desk. Then I'm like, "This isn't a real hotel room." If there's not outlets next to the desk, or if they have an iPhone adapter for an iPhone 4, that's when I'm sitting there annoyed. I understand that it's ridiculous, but that's just me spending way too much time in hotels.
It's so fantastic that Prince William has championed African wildlife. He's putting his back into it - and one thing the royal family is brilliant at is getting people to cough up.
I'm a hotel baby, absolutely: it's hard to think of a hotel I haven't stayed in.
A family holiday to Jamaica in 2004 - my uncle was getting married out there, and it was the first holiday I'd had in Jamaica, which is where my father is from. My friends and I stayed in a really plush hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, so we had a great experience.
[Eva Braun] went to the Nurnberg party rallies starting in 1935. She was there twice and stayed at the Hotel Deutscher Hof, the hotel [Adolf] Hitler had always stayed at while there. It was endless subterfuge in order to see him and then only for a few hours, then she had to sneak back to the banishment of her own room.
I stayed away from family life and stayed fixated on getting rights for the backward castes. This is why I could never have a family, as it brings added responsibilities, and people start accusing them of giving more importance or focus on their families.
Vancouver is a beautiful area, I don't care what time of the year you're there. Vancouver and Calgary. Great places in Canada.
