I don't care how any other Canadian team does, other than the Edmonton Oilers. — © Connor McDavid
I don't care how any other Canadian team does, other than the Edmonton Oilers.
What an incredibly proud moment as a Canadian to have the Canadian flag on the left shoulder of your space suit, looking at the Canadian logos on the robotic arm in the payload bay of the space shuttle, and there's the Orbiter Boom Sensor System, which was an extension of the Canadarm to inspect the tiles underneath the orbiter. It struck me that there were more Canadian logos in space than any other country's I saw.
On his attempt at the Edmonton Oilers empty net: I guess they respect my shot because they were all ready at the blue line.
Often, my liberal Canadian brethren will claim that 'Canada doesn't get involved in foreign affairs or wars overseas. We turn the other cheek.' No. Canada doesn't have the military might to exercise any option other than to remain uninvolved. They aren't turning the other cheek. They're pulling a Sweden.
A mystique of history and heritage surrounds the New York Yankees. It's like the old days revived. We're loved and hated, but always in larger doses than any other team. We're the only team in any sport whose name and uniform and insignia are synonymous with their entire sport all over the world.... the Yankees mean baseball to more people than all the other teams combined.
For me, it's about winning games. I'm trying to score more points than the other team. I don't really care how we do it.
No one loses any other life than the one he now lives, nor does one live any other life than that which he will lose.
Sport is cultural. What the star athlete does helps to define the culture. What the star athlete does on a Canadian team, especially if he or she is Canadian, helps define Canadian-ness.
How does it feel? Really, I don't know because I never try to feel more or less than any player in Leverkusen or Mexico. I don't feel like I'm more famous than other players; I'm just one more footballer who wants to achieve their dreams and to try to help their team as much as they can to do that.
If anybody knows how to be friends, it's black women. We have been enslaved and had to care for each other and each other's babies and pick each other up in so many powerful ways. We know to take care of each other, we know how to be friends.
Dallas Cowboys may be America's team, but the Houston Oilers are Texas' team.
I never scrimmage Oilers against Oilers...What for? Houston isn't on our schedule.
I think that's healthy on a football team for competition to exist in every position and probably most important quarterback so that everyone on the team knows that position isn't handled any different than any other.
It's about how you handle yourself, how you take care of your business, how you present yourself in front of the team, how you hold other people accountable. And ultimately, performing.
More than any other poet, Whitman is what we make him; more than any other poet, his greatest value is in what he suggests and implies rather than in what he portrays, and more than any other poet must he wait to be understood by the growth of the taste of himself.
I love Montreal. I've always loved the city. And when it really comes down to it I never envisioned myself playing for any other team other than the Montreal Canadiens.
We had built up a team in Edmonton that really knew who each other was from a personal standpoint and from a professional standpoint. Our nucleus had stayed together for a long time.
