Somebody's going to have to come up with a definition of what the alt-right is.
I don't think the alt-right would call me alt-right. They call me alt-lite, usually. I just consider myself a nationalist or a traditionalist.
The alt-right didn't emerge from nowhere. There's a cultural foundation that existed beforehand that was almost like the petri dish and the growing medium for the alt-right.
The alt-right has become about white identity politics. Obviously I'm not a white-identitarian, so the alt-right can do their thing.
Our definition of the alt-right is younger people who are anti-globalists, very nationalist, terribly anti-establishment.
I am not Alt-Right, but I am Jewish and have publicly denounced the Alt-Right.
The term 'alt-left' sprang up long after the term 'alt-right,' which was coined in 2010 by white supremacist Richard Spencer, and defined by the Associated Press just after the 2016 election as a movement based on a mix of white nationalism and hard-edged populism.
I don't just want to show how somebody might be wrong;I want to know why people believe the things they believe in the first place. I want to understand the mindset that would lead somebody toward the alt-right.
Things come up from the outside, the outside world says, okay, you have do this, you have to go here and here and here, and these are your options. You can be here or you can be here. You can do this, or you can do this. You can go here, or you can go there. So each one of those things becomes a place of decision, and the way we make decisions is that we all get together and if somebody doesn't feel right about it or it doesn't seem to sit right, usually we'll go with the no vote. If somebody's not comfortable with it, we'll figure it's not going to be worth doing.
My beef with the alt-fuel people is not the renewable or alt-fuel ideas themselves. Sooner or later, there's no question we're going to have to rely on them. For me, it's an issue of scale.
It is important to stop being critical and judging ideas as good or bad because I think if somebody doesn't have a lot of experience you worry their idea is going to be bad, it's not going to be good enough, if not going to be active enough and so you can start to think critically about people's suggestions or what they bring to it but once you get out of that and think whatever they come up with is the right thing right now and so I'm just going to build on it just makes everything so much easier and better.
Not a lot of gay guys end up coming to alt-comedy-ish shows. They like all these '80s shimmer shows, or they like going to drag shows. It is always weird and interesting when I meet somebody at a gay bar who is familiar with my stuff.
That was [Joel] Benenson. "We're talking about this election, Kellyanne [Conway]." See, they're in permanent campaign mode, and they haven't come to grips with the fact that they lost. It was stolen from them, or the alt-right did something or the white supremacists came up and did something. They didn't lose.
The progressives have a challenge. Part of it is that you now have a lot of progressives who feel that 50 million, 60 million people voted to endorse the toxic parts of Donald Trump, that suddenly we now are in a country, you know, surrounded by people who, you know, are proud to be, you know, a part of this alt-right thing and they think it was an alt-right takeover.
In real life, a relationship takes a long time. Either somebody is involved with somebody else, and that's ending, or somebody's hung up on an ex, or your job isn't going right, and so you're focused more on that than relationships. It just takes a lot for two people to get together.
I'm not going to be cowed by the rampant racism, the organised racism, that comes from parts of the alt-right.
I think that somebody with the resources and innovation and the idea is going to come out of nowhere and come up with a successful space travel program.
