The Thought Police: To censor and protect.
The police protect us, and we're going to protect the police.

As far as police go, if officers are really that scared or timid [on the streets], maybe they shouldn't be police officers. Their job is to protect and serve and they're supposed to be the bravest of the brave.
China may censor YouTube. China may censor Twitter. They won't be able to censor Bitcoin. There's no central authority. There's no one you can go to and say, 'We're going to turn Bitcoin off.'
When you're in love, you're so happy that you want to tell people about it. But now I have to censor myself. You need to protect the happiness you have.
Considering that police have life and death power over the public they are sworn to protect and serve, we have the right to expect public accountability to ensure that we can protect ourselves, as well.
A lot of times, we censor ourselves before the censor even gets there.
The function of the censor is to censor. He has a professional interest in finding things to suppress.
A censor is an expert in cutting remarks. A censor is a man who knows more than he thinks you ought to.
By becoming the Twitter police we've volunteered to become the thought police: This seems indisputable, even uncontroversial.
