My social circle, my best friends, are all people that I met at UCB.
There are certain directors who just don't cast diversely in prominent roles. Ever. Often it's just because they don't have a diverse social circle, so they don't think of black or brown people as husbands, best friends, bosses.
Especially today, with the Internet, you have people who have best friends that they never met, with Facebook and Twitter and stuff. If you're really friends, it doesn't matter if I'm on the other side of the world. We'll still be friends and find a way to connect.
Where I came from had a lot of friends. A big social circle.
I have two really great best friends that are the only people I hang out with. I keep a close circle.
All of my close friends have been in my life for years. My best friends are all people I met in grade school, going back as far as 3rd grade.
Facebook is made up of people you've met, but not necessarily who are similar to you. I have 850 'friends,' and a lot are acquaintances, not friends. I don't really know them. If I've met someone one time, how should they be influencing my feed?
Friends, you and me... you brought another friend... and then there were three... we started our group... our circle of friends... and like that circle... there is no beginning or end.
There is no more precious experience in life than friendship. And I am not forgetting love and marriage as I write this; the lovers, or the man and wife, who are not friends are but weakly joined together. One enlarges his circle of friends through contact with many people. One who limits those contacts narrows the circle and frequently his own point of view as well.
I definitely made friends with the people I like to write with, but I'll also write with people I haven't met before or producers I haven't met before because how are you supposed to make those friends without trying?
Now, the term 'friend' is a little loose. People mock the 'friending' on social media, and say, 'Gosh, no one could have 300 friends!' Well, there are all kinds of friends. Those kinds of 'friends,' and work friends, and childhood friends, and dear friends, and neighborhood friends, and we-walk-our-dogs-at-the-same-time friends, etc.
I want to keep meeting new people, enlarging my circle of friends. I have great friends now... really good people. But I'm always ready for what comes next.

Some people have a large circle of friends while others have only friends that they like.
The relationships that I've built there, and the people that I've come across, I met some of my best friends in life at the University of Texas.
I didn't have that normal teenage period when you build up your friends in your area and you have a social circle.
All through the nineties I met people. Crowds of people. Met and met and met, until it seemed that people were born and hastily grew up, just to be met.
