Fight fans just want to see the best against the best - if only it was that simple. — © David Haye
Fight fans just want to see the best against the best - if only it was that simple.
I think that the best way to solve problems and to fight against war is through dialogue. For me the best way to fight against terrorism and extremism... just a simple thing: educate the next generation.
We as fighters always want to fight the best possible opponents and the best fights. We want the fans and media to be excited about the fights that we have. I now believe that this is a big fight and people want to see it, I'm not sure that was the case a few years back.
Most important for me is to fight the best, where the fight means something and fans want it, people want to see it.
I don't have a list, really. I just want to fight guys that are highly respected by the fans, and I want to fight guys who make me nervous. With high risk comes great reward. I want to be a champion that can honestly look people in the eye and say, "I've fought the best guys in the world."
What really excited me at the end was the challenge of being the best I can be and prolonging my best level and playing against the best players in the world. But now that I don't have the opportunity to play against the best players in the world when it counts, in front of fans, it doesn't excite me as much.
I never been a fighter that goes in thinking of defeat. I always go in thinking about winning. I prepare myself to win every time I step in the ring and to give the fans what they want. The results, sometimes don't matter to me. But as long as the fans are entertained with a good fight and enjoy watching me fight, that's all I can do. Just doing the best I can and have the results be what they are.
If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best. The only problem is when I get that belt, who's going to be left to fight? That's what I want to know.
I want to fight all the best. I want to be the best fighter in the world. The only way to truly attain that title is by beating everyone.
I want to show fans what I do best, which is hurt people in the ring and create knockouts. And at the end of the day, that's what fans want to see.
I would love to earn another fight with Ronda Rousey again. She's the best in the world, and as a competitor you want to go up against the best. She's demolished everyone and I think I'm the only one that has taken her into the third round. I'm going to keep fighting and try to earn another fight with her. I'd love to become the UFC World Champion.
I don't ever think about, 'Aw, man, my legacy. My legacy this.' No, I just want to fight the best fights out there to fight just to prove to the world that I'm the best fighter in the world.
I want to see how good I am, and the only way to do that is to fight the best in the division.
In sport, if you want to be the best you have to compete against the best - I would much rather have come tenth and be judged against everyone than come first and be judged against just a few.
When I get on the stage, I try to connect with the fans and offer them the best of the best. I want them to see it as a music journey.
I just want to give my best in London, I want to cross that line and see a personal best on the clock then I will see what position I am in.
Georges is one of the best guys that's ever stepped in the Octagon. That's actually the main reason I want to fight him. I look for a challenge. To be the best, you've gotta beat the best. And Georges St-Pierre is the best.
