A Quote by Douglas Coupland

Most time capsules, when they're unearthed, are really awful. There's nothing good in them. — © Douglas Coupland
Most time capsules, when they're unearthed, are really awful. There's nothing good in them.
It starts with being unearthed. I like that word, unearthed, because we are being unearthed.
The original vocals had an awful lot of work put into them at the time, and I wasn't really sure that I could better them - I don't know if I have bettered them.
We seem to have a compulsion these days to bury time capsules in order to give those people living in the next century or so some idea of what we are like. I have prepared one of my own. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder, and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.
The world isn't awful. People aren't awful. They want to be good. Something makes them bad. Something breaks them down, makes them snap.
The problem I've got is that I really, really like drugs. I love everything about them. It is horrific being sober all the time-utterly awful.
It seems like every time I start to feel good, something really awful happens. It's like... it's really terrible.
I don't have necessarily good taste. I have some really good taste and I have some really awful taste. I don't see the difference, because when you use them together they can work.
Most people are really fighting to not be adults. And, when it happens, it's a big transition. And a lot of that is just awful. It's awful to have to get a job and really be responsible for other people. And it is funny, too. Like, we're all kind of little idiot kids trying to act like we know what we are doing.
I'm not a good time-off person. I'm awful on holiday. It comes from having that period when I didn't work. That really was the worst bit.
I treat all my projects the same. They're all time capsules of where I am at the time and what I'm thinking about.
Stalin had 15 scenic seaside villas, some of them czarist palaces, on the Black Sea coast of Abkhazia. In 2002, I visited and photographed these extraordinarily well-preserved Stalinist time capsules.
The main thing is to do each project the way you want, and if they find an audience, that's terrific. And if they don't, there's nothing you can do anyway, so don't let it concern you that much. An awful lot of good movies have done badly and an awful lot of bad movies have done very well. There are no real rhymes or reasons for it. Sometimes the stars don't always align right. But if you've done the best you can, you feel pretty good about it.
An awful lot of good movies have gone unrecognized, and an awful lot of bad movies have had tremendous recognition. As long as you keep that in mind, you are never really disappointed.
I love to be awful. There's nothing wrong with being awful.
Building takes passion and energy. Maintenance is awful. It's nothing but fatigue. Once you reach the top, maintaining that beast is awful.
We are opening up an enormous new era in archaeology. Time capsules in the deep oceans.
