If I wouldn't have medaled at the Olympics, it still would have been a successful trip. The medal is the icing on the cake.
Success is always an easier motivator, because you want more of it. But I've also been motivated by failure. Had I medaled in London, I don't think I would be one of the few that have gone to a Summer and Winter. I would have been content with that medal. Instead, I used that failure to go to the Winter Olympics. I always tell people that failure can be one of your biggest motivators if you just have an attitude adjustment about it.
I just love cake, confetti cake, to be specific. It has little colored candies inside the cake, and then you get the confetti icing, which is really hard to find sometimes. It's really hard to explain to people, because it's not icing with sprinkles on top. It's icing that actually has candies inside of it. It's Funfetti icing.
I told her that I can't be doing with the Wonder part of these trips, but she said it should be the icing on the cake... I've never liked wedding cake due to the amount of icing, but then imagine a wedding cake without it; just a dark, stodgy, horrible dry sponge. The icing covers up the mess, and that's how I feel about most of the Wonders. They use them to get people to visit a place that you probably wouldn't think about visiting.
My childhood dream was to win the Olympics, and I've done that. Everything else is icing on the cake.
I would compare kicking to being a closer in baseball. This whole game gets played, or the cake is made in front of you, so to speak, and you have to turn around and put the icing on the cake.
Your goal is to win a medal at the Olympics. The players who go into their second Olympics like me, know the agony of missing out on a medal.
It's so much fun that the money is just icing on the cake. There seems to be a lot of icing.
Because winning a gold medal had been a dream of mine since a young age, I needed to empty my mind during the preparation for the Olympics by telling myself that it would be OK not to win a gold medal.
Winning the 2012 bronze medal was magnificent, but I would love to win a gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In any other context, 'icing' is a great and exciting word: The proverbial icing on the cake, for instance, is a bonus - a wonderful thing on top of another wonderful thing. But in hockey, icing merely results in the referee's raising his right hand, as if swearing an oath to the deity of downtime.
You see in comedy - performance is the cake and dialogue is like the icing on that cake.
If there were a category in the Olympics for laundry, my mother would have been a gold-medal winner.
I think being successful in comedy is being funny and making jokes - anything beyond that is the icing on the cake.
I like not being dead. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.My undead cake of livingness.
We have always said that advertising is just the icing on the cake. It is not the cake.
My first gold medal, at my first Olympics, is kind of a surprise to me. I never thought I would be in this position, but I'm so blessed and honored to be on the medal stand.
