An hour of anxiety cannot change my circumstances, but a minute of prayer can alter everything. — © Elbridge Bryant
An hour of anxiety cannot change my circumstances, but a minute of prayer can alter everything.
We have been making changes continuously. You cannot expect everything to be perfect the minute it is made. Things change; they are dynamic as you progress. The requirements change. Demands change. So you change with that.
In human affairs we accomplish everything through prayer. What has been properly arranged we keep in order, what has gone amiss we change and improve, what cannot be changed and improved we bear, overcoming all the trouble and sustaining all the good by prayer. Against force there is no help but prayer alone.
I ask you not to judge me for my weakness. The only way I can endure is to be in a place where I will never see you, never be haunted by the possibility of seeing you with him. I need to be somewhere where sheer necessity forces you from my thoughts minute by minute, hour by hour, I cannot do that here.
Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.
What one means one day, you know, one may not mean the next. Circumstances change, opinions alter.
Self must be denied as to time and attention for prayer. All-prayer cannot be wielded without the expenditure of time. "A minute with God" seldom lays hold of Him. Sustained prayer is necessary. Such time may only be found by snatching it from personal pursuits, however legitimate they may be.
Instead of focusing on that circumstances that you cannot change - focus strongly and powerfully on the circumstances that you can.
So often we try to alter circumstances to suit ourselves, instead of letting them alter us, which is what they are meant to do.
Minute by minute, you decide who you are and who you're likely to be. You make the choices hour by hour, just in the present. I don't believe there's some roadmap laid out that we're headed towards.
The minute I feel nervousness or anxiety or fear, I go, 'No, no, that's not a thought that I need to have right now. Everything's great, everything's good, you're going to be fine'.
In football, you know anything can happen and that everything can change from minute to minute.
Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.
If I could, I would stop the passage of time. But hour follows on hour, minute on minute, each second robbing me of a morsel of myself for the nothing of tomorrow. I shall never experience this moment again.
Our lives are about development, mutation and the possibility of change; that is almost a definition of what life is: change... If you disable change, if you effectively stop time, if you prevent the possibility of the alteration of an individual's circumstances — and that must include at least the possibility that they alter for the worse — then you don't have life after death; you just have death.
I'm very into positive thinking. The minute I feel nervousness or anxiety or fear, I go, "No, no, that's not a thought that I need to have right now. Everything's great, everything's good, you're going to be fine."
Change of habit cannot alter Nature.
