If people take anything from my music, it should be motivation to know that anything is possible as long as you keep working at it and don't back down.
Stay working. Stay busy. It should be motivation instead of down time because down time is like being depressed. It shouldn't be like that. It should really be motivation to keep going.
At the banquet table of nature, there are no reserved seats. You get what you can take, and you keep what you can hold. If you can't take anything, you won't get anything, and if you can't hold anything, you won't keep anything. And you can't take anything without organization.
You can do anything you want to do as long as you keep a good attitude and keep working at it. But the second you give up, you’re screwed.
Music can be useful during training to help get you psyched, and I still listen to music on easy climbs or in the gym. But during cutting-edge solos or really hard climbs, I unplug. There shouldn't be a need for extra motivation on big days, be it music or anything else. It should come from within.
Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do somehing else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.
You can't take anything for granted so I have to keep working.
I'm grateful for anything that reminds me of what's possible in this life. Books can do that. Films can do that. Music can do that. School can do that. It's so easy to allow one day to simply follow into the next, but every once in a while we encounter something that shows us that anything is possible, that dramatic change is possible, that something new can be made, that laughter can be shared.
People need motivation to do anything. I don't think human beings learn anything without desperation.
I don't tell anyone what they should do (drugs). It's like this music is so full of power and energy you don't really need to take anything if you just open up and let the music take you.
"Music, for me, has always been a place where anything is possible--a refuge, a magical world where anyone can go, where all kinds of people can come together, and anything can happen. We are limited only by our imaginations.
God can take anything we have, as long as we give Him the glory for it. He can develop it and make it acceptable in music for the people.
I hate labels because it should be just music. I don't see anything wrong with disco. Call it anything. It's music.
I think that people don't know how to do anything anymore. My father was a janitor. He could take a car apart and put it back together. He could build a house in the back yard. Today, if you ask people what they know, they say, 'I know how to hire someone.'
I have to always check back in with my imagination just to remember that I have this infinite potential, and I can do anything, and anything is possible.
Maybe sometimes I'm such a thinker, I reevaluate too much. Sometimes when it comes down to it, I really don't need to do anything, I don't really need to change anything. I need to just keep plugging away, working at it.
But I also want kids who suffer from bullying to know that you can be whoever you want to be in life, including a professional boxer. That anything is possible and that who you are or whom you love should not be an impediment to achieving anything in life.
