I always have a drive to take me forward offensively, regardless of what position I am playing.
Last year when I was playing for Hamphsire, Delhi Capitals asked me if I was interested in playing for them. I took my time and I thought it's an opportunity for me to learn something new. To take my game forward, to take my T20 game forward.
I thought as a young coach, there were times when my head coach might have prohibited me from moving forward. I always said if I am ever in that position, I'll do anything I can to make our guys move forward.
When the team's not playing well offensively, it's always a problem for me because I'm not an individualistic player.
Having been away from competitive tennis for a while, I am looking forward immensely to getting back on the circuit ... I am looking forward to playing the Big Girls. People have had expectations from me even when I was 10 years old. I try to switch off but you are right, it isn't always easy to do that because the expectations are really mounting.
I've varied between playing a bit more forward in a No 10 position but I always kind of see myself as a No 8.
Maybe I was cast into a different role (in Montreal) and it seemed to follow me around wherever I went, ... Everyone is skeptical until you produce. It's up to me from this point forward. I'm going to get an opportunity to maybe take on a bigger role leadership-wise and offensively.
Regardless of age, regardless of position, regardless of the business we happen to be in, all of us need to understand the importance of branding. We are CEOs of our own companies: Me, Inc. To be in business today, our most important job is to be head marketer for the brand called You.
This is not a time for America to 'believe in magic.' This is a time to drive education forward. This is a time to drive the economy forward. This is a time to drive America forward. We must do it together. And we must re-elect Barack Obama as President of the United States.
Playing defense hard gets me going offensively.
Each time I take a role, I'm always nervous about it at the beginning and I'm always afraid what if that, what if this. Every time I take a role and I'm somewhat terrified at the beginning and I get into it and I start working, that's a big win for me. So, really it is stepping forward in the face of whatever fears that I've created for myself and going forward anyway and those are always big moments for me.
If our team is playing well and winning, it doesn't really matter to me if I am scoring points or not. For me though the more I can help offensively the better our chances are to win, so I just push myself to get better and hope it continues for the rest of the year.
I desperately miss my girls when I am working, and I often feel guilty, but also feel the journey I am on is for them too. When I am on my 16th hour of a day and can barely keep my eyes open, they drive me forward.
Regardless of how well you can be offensively, if you have a great defense, you can deal with any offense.
Summoning up the courage to take action is always the same regardless of how seemingly big or small the challenge. What may look like a small act of courage is courage nonetheless. The important thing is to be willing to take a step forward.
I am going to be happy regardless where I am at as long as I am playing basketball with some guys that have the same common goal that I have, and that is to win.
Gary Neville played a similar position to me. Defensively and offensively, he was a quality player for Manchester United and England. His trophies speak for themselves.
