I don't owe my success to state subsidies but to a faithful public which has sustained me. — © Eric Rohmer
I don't owe my success to state subsidies but to a faithful public which has sustained me.
The public subsidies provided to miners, loggers, and ranchers are as extravagant and as harmful to the public interest as the subsidies that the Federal Reserve and Treasury provide to the 'banks too big to fail.'
It may be a procession of faithful failures that enriches the soil of godly success. Faithful actions are not religious acts. They are not even necessary actions undertaken by people of faith. Now when you meditate, try to meditate in a sustained way, first of all sustain it. Then you find that you are getting into the state of Samadhi, means at a state where you start feeling the joy and the bliss of God's blessings, and then you start saying "O God, what a blessing, what a blessing, and what a blessing". Once you have reached that state then you have to realize "Who am I". Who are you? What are you? You are the Spirit. After establishing your sustained attention on the Spirit you'll develop a state where you'll be in a complete state of witnessing with joy.
Christianity has sufficient inner strength to survive and flourish on its own. It does not need state subsidies, nor state privileges, nor state prestige. The more it obtains state support the greater it curtails human freedom.
Giving subsidies is a two-edged sword. Once you give it, it's very hard to take away subsidies. There's a political cost to taking away subsidies.
We owe our public servants, from school teachers to state employees, a sustainable and well-funded retirement that they can count on.
We understand hereby, that the family, the business, science, art and so forth are all social spheres, which do not owe their existence to the State, but obey a high authority within their own bosom; an authority which rules, by the grace of God, just as the sovereignty of the State does.
It is righteous to receive state subsidies to make films that criticise the state - I want Japanese people to accept such European values.
I want people to remember me that I was faithful, faithful to the gospel, faithful to the call that God gave me. And when I get to heaven, I'm going to ask him why he called me, because I was much used to milking cows and working on the farm than I was preaching.
As the contest proceeded, public interest increased and the entire country watched to see which company would win the big government subsidies through the mountains.
Whether to the nation or to the state, no service can be or ever will be rendered by a more able or a more faithful public servant.
Some friends, you only see them when the sun shines.. My fans sustained me even in dark days. I owe them everything.
