That's what I wanted to do - wrestle. Everything else that happened - 'Total Divas' and the main roster - came along so quickly.
When I came to WWE - I got signed when I was 23. When I was on 'SmackDown' roster, the main roster, I was 24. I wasn't ready for those responsibilities. I wasn't - I wasn't seasoned enough as a wrestler, as an in-ring performer.
The main downside was that it [fame] happened so quickly and I didn't have time to establish what kind of person I wanted to be.
I think the success of 'Total Divas' has opened people's eyes to women in wrestling and to WWE divas.
I think because of 'Total Divas,' people have gotten to know who we are and kind of see more of the personality of the divas.
Everyone has a smart phone, and everything is recorded. One event spills into another. Conclusions come quickly at the near total expense of consideration of what just actually happened.
There are parts of me where during my initial ascent to the main roster, I thought I was ready. Not that I wasn't ready for the main roster, but maybe at times I wasn't as ready as I thought.
NXT prepares you for literally everything for the main roster. They probably over-prepare you.
I think I have done everything I can here in NXT, and I do want to test myself on the main roster.
I think that the potential of Total Divas and female athletes is that the sky is the limit. People want to know about these women, and in the WWE, we call it the Divas Revolution - it's a movement for women's empowerment.
That was my heart and that was my passion. All I ever wanted to do is wrestle. I never wanted to pitch in Game Seven of the World Series, I never wanted to throw the touchdown in the Superbowl, I wanted to wrestle...Be a professional wrestler.
As badly as everybody feels like I'm a sellout for one thing or another, I guess, ultimately, when it came to wrestling, I just wanted to wrestle where I want to wrestle. And something had to be bigger and more important than the money, and for me, it was the time inside that ring.
The Divas Revolution didn't have the great start that I wanted it to have, but through time, it has got to where I want it to be, starting with the Triple Threat Match at Wrestle Mania. Our faces were in the middle of the stadium, which proves we are getting equal opportunities.
You are on the road so much when on the main roster that you don't have time for anything else. But wrestling will always be a huge passion for me.
Lars Sullivan and EC3 are made for the main roster, more so than NXT. Obviously, Lars because he's just freakish in so many ways. But EC3, I look at him, and I look at his mannerisms, his mic skills: he's tailor-made for a good push on the main roster.
The main thing for a gymnast is total concentration while competing. At such moments one has to put everything else behind. I know that other gymnasts can do so with a smile, but I can't. And I don't even try to.
When I came into WWE, what I said to myself was, I wanted to change the term from 'divas' to 'women.'
