I think we sometimes think, 'it is just preseason. These games are for the fans mostly.' It's for ourselves to get in shape and play against more competition. Let's face it, this is preseason, but you can develop bad habits during preseason.
It doesn't matter if it's preseason or a scrimmage. I'm trying to have a dominant performance, whether it's preseason first series or whenever I get out there.
Preseason football is hard to evaluate. It's never going to be clean for the quarterbacks. You have to overcome the ugly plays and be productive. It's a component of leadership that is necessary. The guys that make it in the league survive that.
To me, the preseason is the most over-analyzed 10 plays or whatever it is - ever.
I've seen those mistakes where I could have just given an easy layup or quick dump pass just to get my teammates going, so I watched a lot of stuff on that. Now I see it, now I can make those plays and make sure I feed my teammates.
Some guys want to sit out preseason games and stuff like that. For me, I need my reps to feel comfortable.
I think I made some mistakes, in different areas, but it's great to be working in a show again now, many years down the track. I have worked in many other different shows in Australia and I've been able to learn from my mistakes. I'm lucky that I made those mistakes early on in Australia, and I definitely won't make them again in the States, but you've got to learn that stuff.
Preseason, you generally just want to make sure people work hard, do the basics right.
I'm not worried about sacks in the preseason.
I don't need preseason to get ready.
You're not going to be as good as you're going to be at the end of the season in your first preseason game.
All men are created equal. Some work harder in preseason.
Guys that are playing in the preseason are one play away from being a starter.
You want to play a whole game, but in the preseason you've got to be smart.
Preseason is just a way to screw fans out of money.
I want to be more than prepared for the game, for the preseason, for the season.
