I'm not a big video game dude though, but I like 'Madden.'
There's so many kids who only know me from the video game. And they want to know if I'm home - and if I have a video game I can give them on Halloween. And sometimes they're surprised to learn there actually is a 'Madden.'
The reason why I play 'Madden' is because in 'Madden,' I can control everything, and in the game of life and the game of football, you can't. It's kind of like an outlet.
Any kind of horror video game where I'm the first-person player and I'm... I suddenly stop caring about the video game dude, and I'm like, I really don't want him to die,' and then the minute he dies, it upsets me. I can't play those games.
I started playing Madden back in 1993 because that was the first year I actually made it into the game and that was a big thrill. When you're in Madden, you've made it, baby.
I'm good but not great at 'Madden'. I have friends that their whole life is based around this video game.
I have trouble with long-term things. I tend to get obsessed with stuff and then move on. Roles, songs, video games. That's why I was afraid of marriage. Because it was like a lifelong game of 'Madden.'
'Madden' is the closest thing to actually being on the field yourself. It's so ridiculously realistic. Before I play it, I honestly didn't understand. 'What's all the hype? It's a video game'. Then I sat down and played it, and you feel like you're on the field.
It's always fascinating to me and blows my mind whenever I'm in a video game because I am such a big video game fan at heart.
My favorite game is Madden. That's it. I'm a Madden addict. I go at it.
The video game culture was an important thing to keep alive in the film because we're in a new era right now. The idea that kids can play video games like Grand Theft Auto or any video game is amazing. The video games are one step before a whole other virtual universe.
I try to take as many reps as I can, whether it's on a video game, playing EA 'Madden Football' or in the playbook, just drawing it or just visualizing it in my head.
I've seen where the NFL guys get all over the 'Madden' creators for their ratings and how they don't look good. One of my buddies plays in the NFL and he was so excited to be in 'Madden,' but then we got the game, and he was a 58.
I think a punt can be a big play in a game. If it's anything like a real game, then you realize that a Pat McAfee punt that downs someone inside the 2-yard line can really swing a game. I'm all for punting in video games.
My friends like to play as me in the baseball games, and they call to tell me about every bag I steal. And you know, every time a new game comes out, I check to make sure my speed is up to par. But to me, when you talk video games, you're talking 'Madden.'
Big E, he's a strong dude. Ryback's a strong dude. But if you put Batista next to those guys, he was 6'6'', 320 lbs. Those guys are pushing 6'1''-6'2''. But Batista was wide. He was a big old dude. Those guys could beat him in a bench press contest, but I'd rather look like Dave.
I'm actually a really big board game and video game nerd.
