Maybe I just wasn't a show-biz type. I didn't miss performing at all. — © Gabe Kaplan
Maybe I just wasn't a show-biz type. I didn't miss performing at all.
People get sucked into being so show-bizy. I mean this is show biz, but I just can't do anything that's not in my DNA.
Songwriters aren't always performers, and even performing songwriters aren't always the kind of show-biz performers you think they'd be.
Maybe I was being too picky. Maybe I didn't want to be close to anyone. Maybe I'd just be the type who couldn't feel love all the way or something. I couldn't tell what was wrong, but what was wrong was that it just wasn't right.
I know how demanding show biz is. I fear that things would just end up bad if I'd date a colleague.

Show biz! It's definitely not for sissies.
Politics has become show biz.
I wanted to tell you that I just--I miss you. And maybe that sounds ridiculous--like we barely know each other, but between the emails and texts and... everything else, I felt like we did. Like we do. and I miss--I don't know how else to say it--I miss both of you.
I have performed many puppet and non-puppet characters in my career. Some I miss, some I do not. But when I miss them, I only miss performing them. The actual sweatiness of the fur and foam and fleece? Not so much.
When you're on stage performing stand-up, things only happen one time. I've done bits where I improv a joke, and people are dying. The next show, I try to repeat it, I can't do it. Because with the first audience that was our moment. It can't happen the same way again. We were all there: a certain type of people were at that show and we all got it.
Maybe I wasn't just the traditional-type person or whatever. I got to the top, but I got there maybe unconventionally. It wasn't just a straight line.
I wanted to be a marine biologist my whole life until I graduated high school. And even now, I'm still like, 'Maybe I'll just quit the biz and go to Santa Cruz and study marine biology and have my own research center in the Bahamas.' Yeah, I'm sure it would be just that smooth.
If we admit it or not, skiing is a little bit of show biz
