It was very painful to be so close to a World Cup final.
To be honest, I was never expecting to be in a World Cup final, a Euro final, a Champions League final, a Europa League final. I've done much more than I dreamt, and that's incredible.
This is something I've wanted to do my whole life, to play in a World Cup, to play in a World Cup final and win the World Cup.
A final is a final, a trophy is a trophy, a cup is a cup. Whatever cup you play, you want to win it, especially when you are a player.
I'd love to feature for the Barbarians. I'd love to win a Champions Cup, and I'd love to get to another World Cup and make a fist of it: get to a World Cup final at least and see what could have been, particularly after 2011 when Wales reached the semi-finals.
The first World Cup I followed was Sweden 1958. I watched the games on TV. Brazil won that World Cup by defeating Sweden 5-2 in the Final and Pele scored twice.
'Strictly' is a bit like scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup Final or sinking the final putt in the Ryder Cup - only a few people get the opportunity to do it, and they have got to be famous.
Starting in a World Cup is always complicated, hard, and important. When you start well... The rest of the competitors are watching. I think it's the most important match in a World Cup, along with the final.
Back in 2005, we lost in the semi-final of the World Cup and that was a great learning curve for the team. It gave us a goal and even more of a hunger to win the World Cup, so we went away and set ourselves a long-term plan to do it.
To score in the World Cup final is not a small story, of course. Every footballer dreams of it: first to become a world champion and then, even better, to score in the final. This happened to me, and I'm glad.
You know I was a ball boy at the Italy v. Argentina semi-final in Naples in 1990 and playing in a World Cup final is something every child dreams about.
The last player to score a hatrick in a cup final was Stan Mortenson. He even had a final named after him, the Matthews final
If there are watching, for the World Cup final, 500 million people or something like that, and 100 million for a women's final, that's a difference. So it's not the same.
I've been relegated at Hull, but to make a World Cup squad and reach an FA Cup semi-final at Hull is something I am really proud of.
The World Cup is a very complicated tournament - six games, seven if you make it to the final - and maybe if you lose one game you're out, even if you're the best.
I think we should not accept and tolerate racism anywhere, in any game, whether it's a friendly game or a World Cup final, or it's a Champions League final.
The Confederations Cup is interesting. It served Spain very well to take part and then go on to win the 2010 World Cup. We knew the stadiums, the atmosphere, the conditions and also the difficulties of a tournament which simulated the World Cup format.
