That's what I am trying to be, just trying to affect the game any way possible, rebounding, getting a block, or trying to get a stop even when your shot isn't falling, because, at the end of the day, all that matters is whether you win or lose.
Sometimes in a huddle I don't say anything, the guys will run the huddle. But I try to be an encourager in huddles, especially when I see a guy down or the team is not at the level where they should be mentally.
We have three kinds of guys on our team. We have guys that get it; they play good; they understand how to play winning football. We have some guys that are trying to get it, and they are working hard every day? We are supporting them, and we want the guys that have it to support them. Then we have some guys that don't get it and don't know that they don't get it. We are trying to replace them. We only have a couple left.
I thank goodness every day that I played in the no-huddle, and it was Sam Wyche in Cincinnati who's really one of the innovators of the no-huddle.
Everybody needs love. There are a lot of guys that you think are hard-core gangsters, but all these guys' weaknesses are women. Look at the movie Scarface. At the end of the day, all he wanted to do was to have kids with his woman.
Social distancing won't end with the COVID-19 crisis but will stay with us and will become part of life.
I don't pay attention to the media. You guys can say whatever you want. At the end of the day, at the end of the season, if we're doing well, you guys are going to be there.
If we win, a lot of guys are going to be noticed. That's my main focus is winning at the end of the day. If guys get recognized, they get recognized. It's obviously a great deal individually, but I'm trying to win.
The thing you miss most, when you don't play and you don't coach, is the huddle. You miss the huddle. You miss the ability to walk in the room where collectively players are from everywhere. Every race, every religion, every color. It don't matter, because you've got a common goal. You're trying to be something special as a team.
At the end of the day, none of us are doing an impression of the guys we are playing; we are just trying to create the essence of what they do for a living and go through with their families.
It is impossible to be social distancing while playing football.
When I'm in the huddle, it is my huddle, and I mean, that's how it needs to operate.
There are websites that any government wants to block. The truth about the Internet is that it's extremely hard to block anything - extremely hard. You'll never get perfect blocking.
At the end of the day, guys don't want to foul, especially guys in the starting unit.
I'm a type of player that tries to do everything a lot to help our team. Setting screens to get guys open, trying to block shots.
You do have those guys that talk a lot. I understand they're doing it for a reason, to hype a fight, but then you get guys who do it and you can tell that they're trying too hard.
