In 1997, I was working with Greg Wilson of Red Ball Tiger, our ad agency at the time, when he came up with an addition to the famous slogan 'I guarantee it' that I was known for saying.
I came to Mumbai for my internship in advertising in an ad agency. Back then, a senior from my college who was working for Balaji asked whether I wanted to act. I agreed, and I didn't even know when it became my passion and my hobby.
When I came to New York, to Brooklyn, I met Alvin Ailey and Stanley Crouch and August Wilson. They were always putting things in a philosophical context. All the great jazz musicians did, too. One of my jobs was at a start-up ad agency. They were trying to do things differently, work with socially conscious clients, and to really be a more creative take on advertising than the industry itself. But I noticed that what the guys at the office were circulating for inspiration still came from within the ad industry. I thought that was really counterintuitive - to only borrow inspiration from within your own industry.

I've known Tiger since he was 18. Tiger is a great guy. I am so happy for him right now.
