A Quote by Georges Bataille

The truth is paradoxical to the extent of being exactly contrary to the usual perception. — © Georges Bataille
The truth is paradoxical to the extent of being exactly contrary to the usual perception.
It sounds paradoxical to say the attainment of scientific truth has been effected, to a great extent, by the help of scientific errors.
If Zen is approached with the usual mental attitude, it will seem quite incomprehensible. Our average Western intellectuality would consider its paradoxical language simply as a play upon words. Its full significance is revealed only when we approach it in a different manner, making our minds available to the new processes of inner perception which it suggests.
"Comfort" is no test of truth; on the contrary, truth is often far from being "comfortable".
And for the authentical truth of either person or actions, who (worth the respecting) will expect it in a poem, whose subject is not truth, but things like truth? Poor envious souls they are that cavil at truth's want in these natural fictions; material instruction, elegant and sententious excitation to virtue, and deflection from her contrary, being the soul, limbs, and limits of an authentical tragedy.
Contrary to what phenomenology- which is always phenomenology of perception- has tried to make us believe, contrary to what our desire cannot fail to be tempted into believing, the thing itself always escapes.
An interesting fiction... however paradoxical the assertion may appear... addresses our love of truth- not the mere love of facts expressed by true names and dates, but the love of that higher truth, the truth of nature and principals, which is a primitive law of the human mind.
Truth is always paradoxical.
Truth sounds paradoxical!
America is such a paradoxical society, hypocritically paradoxical, that if you don't have some humor, you'll crack up.
The truth often sounds paradoxical.
The words of truth are always paradoxical.
The ego says, ‘I shouldn’t have to suffer,’ and that thought makes you suffer so much more. It is a distortion of the truth, which is always paradoxical. The truth is that you need to say yes to suffering before you can transcend it.
Perception without the word, which is without thought, is one of the strangest phenomena. Then the perception is much more acute, not only with the brain, but also with all the senses. Such perception is not the fragmentary perception of the intellect nor the affair of the emotions. It can be called a total perception, and it is part of meditation.
I'm a real relationship person - contrary to public perception. I'm either in one or I'm not.
Such reciprocity is the very structure of perception. We experience the sensuous world only by rendering ourselves vulnerable to that world. Sensory perception is this ongoing interweavement: the terrain enters into us only to the extent that we allow ourselves to be taken up within that terrain.
As a president, we need a businessman who understands that business is not usual - someone who's not going to put up with business as usual in Washington, D.C. Having a businessman who's not going to put up with business as usual in Washington, D.C., is exactly what we need.
