I hate talking about the dunk contest. I'm just so sick of the dunk contest. I'm done with that. That point of my life I'm over with.
When I was in the dunk contest, DeMar DeRozan actually did the dunk I was about to do before me. That was going to be my next dunk, so I was panicking when I went up for my turn.
A slam dunk or a breakdance move is limited by what the physical body can do. Now, a skateboard is limitless by design, by not only the dynamic of the board and the way it goes but also what you build to skate on. Basically it's like a slam dunk contest that will progress every for the life of the sport. Five years from now there are going to be kids doing stuff that we didn't think was possible.
I would've said yes before I saw Aaron Gordon do what he did. And Zach LaVine went nuts as well. I think Gordon should've won for what he did. But what LaVine does is amazing. I don't know where he gets that bounce and that glide but it's incredible. I hope both those guys compete it in next year. Before Rocky III, I was minding my own business, there was a Tough Man contest. I won that contest two years in a row and I didn't win because I was the toughest, the roughest or the baddest. I won when I was training for the contest, I told my pastor "They're having a contest and when I win the contest I'm a give you the money so you can buy food and clothes for the less fortunate people in the community." That was what Mr. T was about, that was back in 1979. I didn't have a car then but that's what I'm about.
Anyone can win a slam-dunk contest. The real Superman is dead. He was assassinated by Pat Riley. I'm the Big Cactus now and ready to roll again.
