To be a point guard, to run the team and have the ball in my hands and try to make plays for others - that's who I am.
It used to be every single time you got the rebound, you handed it to the point guard, or you outlet it to the point guard, or everyone cleared, and you waited until the point guard brought the ball up the floor.
I'd like to be in a position to have plays run through me and share the ball, make plays. Still score, obviously, but make plays, as well.
I can play off the ball some, and that's fine with me as long as I can be out on the floor. But I am definitely more natural as a point guard than I am as a two guard.
I watch plays that teams run and try and figure out how I am going to get to the ball.
I'm a point guard, I've always been a point guard, I've played point guard all my life. Personally, I feel the best point guards make other players look better and create their own shot. I fit in that category.
The team aspect of football and just playing quarterback, having the ball in your hands, having to make the plays, that was definitely something I loved.
With the quarterback position, because you're touching the ball every single snap, you want to make a play and you just have to guard against that. It's about making the plays that come to you, not necessarily chasing after plays.
With the ball in your hands as the point guard, you want to be able to control the game and take care of it.
Once you see the leader of the team, the point guard of the team who has the ball pretty much the whole time in the game directing everybody, I think it just rubs off on everybody.
I feel more comfortable with the ball in my hands, playing the point guard. But I like playing the 2, too. I think I bring tough defense and the ability to score and also get my teammates the ball to score.
I've worn a lot of different roles for this team - off the bench, starting, closer, point, off the ball, whatever it may be. So, that's kind of how I view myself - the multi-purpose utility guy who helps keep the guys together, trying to make the sacrifice plays to help the team win.
You don't want to be the selfish point guard. You want to be the guy that gets everybody open, that makes plays, and see the ball move before it goes in.
Yeah, I play a lot of point guard. LeBron plays a lot of point guard. A lot of people are thinking too much on positions.
It's good to know you have a pass-first point guard who will make the right plays.
When you are a striker, you need to give a lot of effort for the team, to keep the opponent under pressure, to press them, to win the ball fast - that's what I try to do to help the team. After that, I try to make some goals.
I'm not trying to get back on a team, but I have tried to stay in shape just in case a team needs a point guard. A championship team. I wouldn't go to any other team.
