I would much rather see somebody bring something new to a genre than produce something that seems safe.
I learned early on that I'd rather not be taught something somebody else's way, I'd rather do it the most organic way I know. So, whatever I end up with, it's something I did myself. That's just the way I do it.
I was just glad to meet somebody outside of my group of small town friends who was into music. Somebody else who had aspirations to do something more than sing at a record hop.
