I always pray before the game. I have a big-time belief in that. It just gives me that extra boost, the confidence, the faith that I'm going to play and be safe.
I pray to my mother before every game. She passed away when I was 9, but I always consider her my wings on the floor, my extra step, my extra focus, my extra everything, to watch over me when I'm on the court. It takes some pressure off you when you feel like you have your mother above watching you. And I always pray to God for guidance.
I always believe in trying something extra-ordinary and fighting against myself, gives me the biggest confidence boost.
For goalkeepers, confidence comes from games and minutes. So whenever someone gives you an opportunity or shows faith in you, it always gives you a boost.
The difference between ordinary and extra-ordinary is so often just simply that little word - extra. And for me, I had always grown up with the belief that if someone succeeds it is because they are brilliant or talented or just better than me... and the more of these words I heard the smaller I always felt! But the truth is often very different... and for me to learn that ordinary me can achieve something extra-ordinary by giving that little bit extra, when everyone else gives up, meant the world to me and I really clung to it.
Belief is in a sense passive, an agreement or acceptance only; faith is active and positive, embracing such reliance and confidence as will lead to works. Faith in Christ comprises belief in Him, combined with trust in Him. One cannot have faith without belief; yet he may believe and still lack faith. Faith is vivified, vitalized, living belief.
I always have to have a fragrance on. I have to wear a fragrance before I go anywhere. For me, scent is everything. It's a first impression. I love it when people tell me I'm smelling good and ask what I'm wearing. For me, it gives me that extra confidence and makes me feel grown.
My faith plays a big part in my life. And when I was answering that question what I was really saying to the person was that I pray a lot. And I do. And my faith is a very, it's very personal. I pray for strength. I pray for wisdom. I pray for our troops in harm's way. I pray for my family. I pray for my little girls.
I would never play an extra year for money. I play the game because I love it. I just so happen to get paid. If I don't feel I still enjoy the game, I can care less what a year is worth. I'm not going to play the game just because of money.
Lee Chong Wei is no doubt the best men's singles opponent I've played, and this gives me extra motivation to raise my game each time I play against him.
I know you can't play this game 100 percent. It's very rare that you can be able to play this game at 100 percent. You can do one thing; you can't do both: You can't pray and then worry at the same time. I pray, and that's it. And then I just go play. Whatever happens, happens.
I really enjoyed being one of the fan's favorites. They give me extra boost, they give me extra power. There was no need to warm up my body. When you heard that, you're ready to go in the game, ready to roll.
Before I go to those teams, I say, 'Hey, I'm a Muslim and I have to pray five times a day.' And they respect it so much that they give me a prayer room. So before the game, after the game, before practice, before I fly out, I can go to that room whenever I want and pray.
I'm really happy, and beating Marc [Marquez] at the very last chicane gives me an extra boost.
I pray daily, and I pray in all kinds of places. I mean, I pray in bed, I pray in the Oval Office. I pray a lot. And just different as the spirit moves me. And faith is an integral part of my life.
I think at some point [Big Pun] really wanted to be a singer as well. He would call me at 3 or 4 in the morning and say "Yo Twin, sing something for me!". That's the type of love Big Pun had for me. He had this faith and belief and he expressed it many times. It was overwhelming for me. I think that he honestly believed I was going to make a difference in the game.
I have a lot of confidence in my game. I love to play with confidence, be aggressive, and that's just how I've always done it.
