A Quote by James Baldwin

Great art can only be created out of love. — © James Baldwin
Great art can only be created out of love.
I can consider not only great art, but the context in which that art has been created. I can consider the people who paid a price for that art to be created and whether or not I want to appreciate that art on their backs.
Art isn't only a painting. Art is anything that is creative, passionate and personal. Art is the unique work of a human being created to touch another. Art is created to have an impact, to change someone else.
Art is not great. Music is not great. It's just that they tickle us. When one steadfastly refuses greatness - then and then only can the wonderful thing we call art be created.
Great art likes chains. The greatest artists have created art within bounds. Or else they have created their own chains.
The reality is that art has often risen to greater heights than the people who created it. Many flawed artists have created great works of art. You have to decide if you are going to listen to Richard Wagner's music or not because he was very anti-Semitic.
Great art is created only through diligent and painstaking effort to perfect and polish oneself.
Every single human being is created in the image of God; created for dignity, created for the Father's love, created for kindness, created for mercy.
Art isn't only a painting. Art is anything that's creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator.
Art isn't only a painting. Art is anything that's creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator... Art is a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn't matter. The intent does. Art is a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another.
All the great things we know have come to us from neurotics. It is they who have founded religions and created great works of art.
You are only an actor if you absolutely love it and can not do anything else. Starving for your art is great in your 20s, but it's not so great at 35. It has to be absolute love. You can't worry about being a movie star or anything else. Just love. That's it.
It's intimidating any time to have a piece of art that someone else created, and that person says, 'Let's see what you created based on what I created.'
I love art, my mother is a painter, I majored in art history at Wellesley, and as I was having my second child I was thinking, what am I going to do, I have to do something to keep myself sane, and I began to ask myself, what are the most horrific circumstances under which art can be created?
One of the glories of society is to have created woman where Nature had made only a female; to have created a continuity of desire where Nature thought only of perpetuating the species; and, in fine, to have invented love.
Perhaps only silence and love do justice to a great work of art
Pure love ... knows that only one thing is needed to please God: to do even the smallest things out of great love - love, and always love.
