You don't know when you're being watched. That's one of the weird things about celebrity. It's my least favorite part of acting, celebrity.
I think this whole celebrity world is weird anyway. Weird and funny and kind of pathetic and yet so right for parody.
I like sort of esoteric and weird Twitter jokes. But I actually unfollow people if they make jokes about a celebrity's death within the first two minutes of that celebrity dying.
I don't think there's any kind of preparation for sudden celebrity. I think you almost have this slight nervous breakdown when that kind of media attention happens. I mean, you're doing the same kind of thing that you do all the time, only you have to make these weird adjustments. Like, you're buying a slice of pizza and somebody's outside photographing you which is weird - that's not normal! It's very uncomfortable.
I can't imagine Hunger Games, even with its very popular books, being nearly a success that it's been without Jen Lawrence being the perfect person to play that role - a very modern celebrity, a very down-to-earth, accessible, celebrity.
Coming to LA and working with brands connected with celebrity was a very different experience. I thought it was interesting to work with someone like Justin Timberlake and to work with the phenomenon of celebrity in the U.S., and also to take on the challenge of taking a celebrity brand and adding credibility to it.
It's weird to be called a celebrity or talk about it. I don't talk about being a celebrity in my business meetings. I don't talk about it with my friends. It's not a part of my life. It's a media perception of who I am.
You sit at a fashion show in another country and you watch all of these paparazzi swarm around a celebrity, only they're a local celebrity, maybe a soap opera star, so you don't have any idea who they are, you just know they're famous to a bunch of stunned Italians. It's weird, because when you can't identify who a celebrity is, they can just look like overslicked stand-ins. That might sound awful, but what I mean is, when you think about most actresses, even in Hollywood, they really aren't that fascinating or glamorous in their own right once you strip away the flashbulbs.
To me, there are two types of celebrity: there's good celebrity - people that are attracted to the food and working and trying to create something great - and then there's bad celebrity - those who are working on being a celebrity.
Celebrity is a weird appendage, which is useless unless you do something with it.
I think its very dangerous, the idea of celebrity - you have to be constantly controversial to maintain the status of celebrity. Reality TV is the death of entertainment - its just mindless TV but popular because of its voyeuristic nature, and people are very voyeuristic.

The whole celebrity culture is super weird, but I'm part of it for some reason, and you kind of have to be as an actor to be successful.
Celebrity is titillating for a million reasons, right? So I think that's a fun part of it. This job that we do is weird. It's a very specific, odd industry to be a part of on many levels. When you're starting out, it's got a series of interesting quirks. And as you become more successful those quirks just change.
There were so many weird shows when we were younger. 'Clangers.' 'Button Moon.' 'The Moomins.' All very weird, but very cool too.
I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird.
