A Quote by Jeanette Winterson

The pain is when the dreams change, as they do, as they must. — © Jeanette Winterson
The pain is when the dreams change, as they do, as they must.
All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs. So how do we change? The most effective way is to get your brain to associate massive pain to the old belief. You must feel deep in your gut that not only has this belief cost you pain in the past, but it's costing you in the present and, ultimately, can only bring you pain in the future. Then you must associate tremendous pleasure to the idea of adopting a new, empowering belief.
Change is painful. Few people have the courage to seek out change. Most people won’t change until the pain of where they are exceeds the pain of change.
We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing. Consequences give us the pain that motivates us to change.
Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.
Pain can change you, but that doesn't mean it has to be a bad change. Take that pain and turn it into wisdom.
There are two kinds of pain: the pain of change and the pain of never changing and remaining the same.
As for my destination, I don’t think I ever knew one. I walk, I run in the direction of my dreams. Things change along the way, people change, I change, the world changes, even my dreams change. I don’t have a place to arrive, I just keep doing what I know how to do, the best that I can do it. I’ll probably end up a deluded geriatric in a wheelchair wearing a cape and tights, imagining my own flight out of this world, but of course with a young girl in my arms.
We must accept our pain Change what we can and laugh at the rest
Strength of the Heart comes from knowing that the pain that we each must bear is part of the greater pain shared by all that lives. It is not just 'our' pain, but 'the' pain and realizing this awakens our universal compassion
The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision
A man must have his dreams - memory dreams of the past and eager dreams of the future. I never want to stop reaching for new goals.
Pain is important: how we evade it, how we succumb to it, how we deal with it, how we transcend it. ... pain will always either change or stop. Always. ... The confidence that it will change is what makes bearing it possible. So pain is fluid. It is only when you conceive of it as something static that it is unbearable.
No one should negotiate their dreams. Dreams must be free to fly high. No government, no legislature, has a right to limit your dreams. You should never agree to surrender your dreams.
We change when the pain to change is less than the pain to remain as we are.
Whoever is spared personal pain must feel himself called to help in diminishing the pain of others. We must all carry our share of the misery which lies upon the world.
All objective pleasure in the long run must bring pain, because of the fact of change or death.
