Everyone traveling alone is just on their phones the whole time. — © Jen Kirkman
Everyone traveling alone is just on their phones the whole time.
Millennials are always on their phones and it's running their lives, but you know who is also on their phones? Moms and Dads and also some dogs... everyone is on their phone all the time.
People are always talking on their phones, or looking at their phones, because they don't want to be alone with their thoughts.
You gain more and more confidence every time you go through tougher situations like traveling alone and sleeping alone.
I have this thing in my brain that I just wish I lived in a different time era. And I think that's honestly just because of social media and everything, like phones and the whole shebang. I feel like relationships are more superficial.
The institutions are working better now, the banks are much more functional. At this time, 1997, there were no mobile phones! It's a whole different thing now with mobile phones: technology has created a form of regulation, because people can actually talk to each other a lot more.
Being on a comedy tour is like traveling with family, everyone is all having a great time... then all of a sudden it turns sour. One thing gets said out of turn, and everyone is on everyone's last nerve. After an hour of silence, we all start laughing about it.
I also like to do physical things. I like swimming a lot. I like traveling. Not touring traveling but just plain traveling. I also read a lot. Reading takes up most of my time.
The whole time we're traveling the world. You really mature. You're not just learning truth. The truth is changing you and maturing you.
This whole thing about a woman staying alone and being happy is just a myth. Everyone needs someone in their lives.
My real journey had very little to do with traveling Europe, and a whole lot to do with traveling my own mind.
I can't stand when I walk into a room and everyone's not talking to each other and just on their phones.
Traveling makes time go fast. So maybe traveling in space will give people time.
I learned to basically pull my own weight, just do my own thing. I spent a lot of time alone and I loved it. It was actually really great because to the present day I love spending time alone. I go bicycling alone, go climbing alone and I just love being with myself and observing myself and learning something.
I am obsessed with planning travel! Not just traveling, which I love, but the whole planning process and all the details that go into it. I subscribe to all these travel blogs and airline forums and research hotels and activities and destinations for hours on end, and I volunteer to plan trips for everyone I know.
My style influences came from just growing up in L.A. and watching everything and the whole environment and just traveling.
I keep social with everyone because I want to know what's going on at every level. At the same time, if I'm not alone a certain amount of time per day then I'll go nuts, because I can't write and I can't think. I can't deal with people all the time. I like being alone. I'm a bit of a cat lady in that way.
