Most of us understand what healthy food is - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that vegetables are good for you and that sugar is bad. So you need to use the things you do know and follow them.
Soul food is find the most healthy food you can get and make it as toxic as possible. Collard greens are good for you. Kale is good for you. Yams are good for you. But they no longer are good for you when you start pouring the sugar, the oil, the butter, all of those items that make it unhealthy.

Health messages are simply overwhelmed, in volume and in effectiveness, by junk-food ads that often deploy celebrities or cartoon characters to great effect. Food is one of my favourite things. Though I certainly know lots of people who happen to be happily married who don't have food play the role in it that it plays in my life. And I don't know how they do it, and frankly I feel so bad for them because I just love food and one of my favourite things is asking, "What do we want for dinner? What do we feel like eating?"
