In the UFC, nothing is guaranteed. Anything can happen when it comes to getting a title shot.
I'm generally an optimist, but of course, when you've been with the UFC for a decade and still not had a title shot, there is a little part of you that wonders if it will ever happen.
No one is guaranteed a spot at the top, no one is guaranteed a title shot, but all you can do is win your fight, keep training, and then maybe somewhere down the road you'll get your opportunity.
Mixed martial arts, UFC, or what have you, I don't think it has anything to do with rankings. It doesn't have to do with 'this guy beat this guy so he deserves a title shot.' It might be like that every once in a while, but this is entertainment and the two biggest names - the best story.
I felt like I deserved a title shot a few times in the UFC and was kind of passed over.
Anyone in the UFC, that should be your goal, to get the UFC belt and to fight for that title.

I made a good living in the UFC. This isn't a negative thing. I'll always love the UFC. I still do 'UFC Now,' and I love breaking down the fights, and I never miss anything, and if they need anything, they know who to call.
Getting the title shot was huge.
It makes me very, very happy to get someone a world title shot, which I've done with a few fighters, or a European title shot or a British title, and I see them lift that belt above their waist and they come to me and say 'Thanks Ricky. I've just paid my mortgage off with that.' That's what its all about.
Nothing is going to happen to me, or you, for that matter. Anything can happen, though. Anything can happen. But most always, just normal things happen, and people have happy lives.
The title shot, the way I look at it is I just have to go out there and do my job. If I keep winning fights, there's no way they can't give me that title shot.
All I know is that Stipe gave me inspiration because if Stipe can be that UFC champion, and they actually gave him a title shot, then I'm like, 'Ah, I do have a chance.'
The one thing the fans wanted to see is me getting the title shot.
When I was in Spain, I remember United being eight points ahead of City with only six games but they still lost that title. So in the Premier League, anything can happen. You never know because anything can happen whether you are in front or behind the opponent.
With the UFC, anything can happen, really.
I believe I'm one fight away at all times from getting a title shot and being up there.
