I love peas and can happily tuck into a big bowl, but my favourite vegetables are Brussels sprouts. I talk about them so much that my fans call themselves Sam's Sprouts.
My husband is the cook at our house. I can make dessert and salad, but I stay away from meals. He makes amazing omelets, fish, and grilled vegetables like Brussels sprouts and cauliflower.
My perfect last meal would be: shrimp cocktail, lasagna, steak, creamed spinach, salad with bleu cheese dressing, onion rings, garlic bread, and a dessert of strawberry shortcake.
If you want to get really crazy, Brussels sprouts love cured pork. Crisp up some bacon, pancetta, or chorizo in a skillet; save the crisp bits; use the fat to roast the sprouts; then toss them together with the meat when they come out of the oven.
When I was a player, I'd have a pre-match meal of the biggest lump of fillet steak you could find, followed by rice pudding. Other times I'd have a steak and kidney pie. I'd finish the meal at 12.30 and be playing two-and-a-half hours later.
We lived near a supermarket, and whatever they threw away, we would get it, and my mother would make soup. Or she would get a big can of lard, a big can of meal, a big can of flour, a big can of beans, and fix the same meal for months.
My favorite meal to make is seared ahi, and my wife does the most amazing pear salad.

If it's a healthy day, I'll head to the gym, then have a steak salad at the cafe next door.
I can't think of anything I can't stand the taste of less than brussels sprouts.
Thinly slicing even the bulkiest vegetables, like cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts, or cabbage, then aggressively cooking them in a hot skillet and finishing with a shower of spices means they cook and develop flavor super quickly.
Salad isn't a meal. Salad's the stuff that comes with a meal.
Brussels sprouts are misunderstood - probably because most people don't know how to cook them properly.
I hate to shop. I consider it one of life's necessary evils, like brussels sprouts and high-heeled shoes.
