For me, I just go out there and play defense, hit some open shots and keep it rolling.
You don't have to hit perfect shots all the time here. The variety of shots you get to play, the shots you sometimes have to hit along the ground, it's just a lot of fun to me.
I build confidence when I practice a variety of shots - hitting it high or low, working the ball. A lot of golfers go to the range and just hit full shots. That doesn't build on-course confidence, because you won't always hit full shots out there. My confidence is built on knowing I can effectively work the ball in any circumstance.
There's times where I could take all the shots every time I touch the ball, but that's not me. I just play a team game and just take open shots.
You are going to hit some good shots and not get rewarded, but that's just U.S. Open golf. It's tough; it's hard.
Some players like to change clubs around the green to hit high or low shots. I play all of my short-game shots with my 54-degree sand wedge and change my ball position to hit it higher or lower. I think it's easier to learn one club than four.
What team's supposed to win - that doesn't mean anything. You've still got to go out and play. You've still got to go out and hit the shots and make the putts.
I just play the game. I hit a shot and wait for the next guy to hit his. I don't think between shots-that's my nature.
I've just aimed to go out with a clear mind; to try not to premeditate my shots and if I'm going to play a few big shots I try to have a few deliveries under my belt first; have my eye in a bit better.
My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me.
If I can hit the ball the way I want to hit it on the range, I'd rather do that than play golf. I just love the feeling of hitting good golf shots.
Golf is the crack of sports. If you hit five good shots, you know you can hit six good shots. The next time you hit six good shots, you know you can hit seven.
If I'm blocking shots or changing shots or even preventing players from taking shots, I'm helping the team and we are likely to win when our defense is playing well.
Two big punchers, you've got to keep your chin down, keep your defense up, don't be careless or open, box sensibly, control the centre of the ring and when he lets his punches go, believe me he's gonna know all about it.
If we want to win, we're not going to be able to go out on the court and say, 'My turn' or 'Your turn.' We're going to have to play together and sacrifice some shots, some ball touches, some minutes.
I hit a lot of bad shots, but you just need to laugh about them, be able to have a smile on your face, and just keep moving.
We got to stop people. We go ahead and we score 100 points every night, but we give up more. Our whole thing was, we know we can score, and we have to start having some kind of fun on the defensive end. Everybody want to play offense. Not too many people want to play defense. Defense is ego, pride, and that's the way we've been coming out, just taking the challenge. Man-on-man first, and having each other's back when a guy gets beat.
