No doubt the [presedential] campaigns have reflected some anxiety, anger, and resentment in the nation at large, and we must try to understand these attitudes in the electorate.

I don't believe that knifing and that sort of terminology is applicable to myself, but I try to the very best of my ability to be as honest as I can with my colleagues and with the electorate at large.
Anger is an appropriate reaction to racist attitudes, as is fury when the actions arising from those attitudes do not change.

Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome.
The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional. Anxiety is not a sin; it's an emotion. So don't be anxious about feeling anxious.
