He's a gritty hockey player, he's got good vision, he's an intelligent player.
I really rate Paul Scholes, because he hasn't got the high profile of many of the Manchester United players, he doesn't get too much attention, but he is one very good player. He is an intelligent player, he works hard and he scores some great goals. He is not flamboyant and is a quiet lad off the pitch but he is a tremendous asset to Manchester United and to England. He has already got my vote as player of the year.
It is one of my biggest regrets that Niall Quinn was not here during my time... I felt he was an intelligent player. It would have been a good combination with Thierry Henry. What I like with Quinn is if you look at the player who played next to him, he always scored 40 goals because he had a hand for his head and he just put the ball where you were. He was a team player. A top-class player makes other players look good and he had that player.
I wanted to be a hockey player. Where I grew up, the basketball courts were rarely used. I was terrible in school and actually said, 'I'm going to be a hockey player.'
To me, a hockey player has to be every sport rolled into one: ice skater, baseball player, football player, etc. It's just incredible to watch!
I never look at myself as a black player. I think of myself as a hockey player that wants to be the best player in the league.
A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.
I want to be the strongest player, the most intelligent player, and the most skilled player on the court at all times.
I don't think you're going to see any hockey player tell the media or anyone they're the best player in the world. It's just not who we are.
I was a better hockey player than I was a baseball player.
Growing up, I played hockey because I loved playing it. I didn't view myself in minor hockey as a Black hockey player, but I was also aware that I was.
As a player, you get to the stage where you realise that you are not 25 anymore - and can't play the way you used to. The intelligent players adapt - and Steven Gerrard has the ability to do that. He is an excellent passer of the ball, possesses an intelligent football brain, and has great vision.
I still remember the time when I visited the wax museum in London. While there were statues of many sports personalities, including that of Sachin Tendulkar, I didn't see a wax figure of any hockey player. I was a little disappointed at that time, and I hoped that one day, at least in India, someone would make a wax statue of a hockey player.
In small space a player has to be capable of acting quickly. A good player who needs too much time can suddenly become a poor player.
I was a rugby player, I was a hockey player. You know, I just love to challenge myself, and I love to compete.
I'm obsessed with hockey and my son's a big player. I spend a lot of time driving to the ice rink and I'm a huge Los Angeles Kings fan. So, yeah, I'm a hockey mama - a cool hockey mama.
I saw James Rodriguez play for the Colombian national team. I saw him play for Real Madrid and for Bayern, too. For me he's a fantastic player, a sensational player, intelligent, a player, who, if you let him play the way he likes, for sure, he'll do a lot for the Premier League.
