As a songwriter, you always want to search for something that's right in front of you that you can twist into something new.
I'm always looking to make something that didn't exist before, fumbling about in the dark, not just while making a collection. The search for something new is a constant in my everyday life. But constantly searching for something new is like looking for a well in a desert.
This search for what you want is like tracking something that doesn't want to be tracked. It takes time to get a dance right, to create something memorable.

But something out of something means it was really there the whole time, inside you, and you discover it as part of something new, that’s never happened before.
I've always loved those movies where somebody really wants something, and then the thing they want is right in front of them.
You have to find something that you want to accomplish, that you want to achieve. You want to drop 15 pounds. You want to be able to run four miles. There has to be some goal that you set for yourself and, after you've reached that goal, you set a new one. You always have to be shooting for something, striving for something.
Someone who can search for something is happy. Searching gives a meaning to life. Nowadays it’s not so easy to find something you might be looking for. The most important thing, however, is the search itself, the way you take. It’s not so important where it leads. that’s why my characters are always looking for something, maybe only a cat, a sheep or a wife, but that is at least the beginning of a story.
I long to journey endlessly, always in search of something new. Always alert.
I've got a tiny little twist in the tooth to the right of my two front teeth that my dad, my aunt and my grandad have all had. It's really weird; it's the Bowman twist. I don't know what it is about my mouth, but it looks a bit wonky to me.
I dont want to create a monster; I want to make something which is new, exceptional, something that only I do...something that references tradition, but is still new.

It's always difficult when you want to do something really new, and you also want it to reach the masses, because the majority of people want to see what they've already seen before, or that they're already familiar with. To open the majority of peoples' minds to something new is difficult.
