I know other worlds exist. I can see them in my peripheral vision. — © Joseph Gordon-Levitt
I know other worlds exist. I can see them in my peripheral vision.
We need people who can see straight ahead and deep into the problems. Those are the experts. But we also need peripheral vision and experts are generally not very good at providing peripheral vision.
The pace of change is so great, there is always something else going on. What that says to me is that you have to have strategic vision and peripheral vision. Strategic vision is the ability to look ahead and peripheral vision is the ability to look around, and both are important.
I think I was a bit naive when I was younger. I don't know what it was: I sort of felt tunnel vision - I didn't really have peripheral vision or see the world and what was happening. I'm much more worldly, and I believe that I'm much more grounded in my body than I probably was when I was younger.
You can see the future best through peripheral vision.
So books are real to me, too; they link me not just with other minds but with the vision of other minds, what those minds understand and see. I see their worlds as well as I see my own.
Learn to see, and then you'll know that there is no end to the new worlds of our vision.
Sometimes we don't see out of our peripheral vision what's coming right around the corner.
What would it be like to have not only color vision but culture vision, the ability to see the multiple worlds of others.
The great thing about computer animation is that all of those environments exist as three-dimensional worlds, so these VR worlds already exist.

Worlds like this are worlds of the human imagination: their reality, or lack of reality, is not important. What is important is that they are there. these worlds provide an alternative. Provide an escape. Provide a threat. Provide a dream, and power; provide refuge, and pain. They give your world meaning. They do not exist; and thus they are all that matters.
When we inject people with positivity, their outlook expands. They see the big picture. When we inject them with neutrality or negativity, their peripheral vision shrinks. There is no big picture, no dots to connect.
There are worlds beyond worlds and times beyond times, all of them true, all of them real, and all of them (as children know) penetrating each other.
When it comes to making more money, most people look at the world and see the same opportunities they've seen before: typically, a job. Because they don't awaken their mind and expand their vision, they don't see other opportunities. Yet opportunities do exist. So how do you change your thinking so you can see them? One way to jolt the brain out of its preconceived category thinking is to bombard it with new experiences.
You know what the difference between a vision and a hallucination is? They call it a vision when other people can see it.
My peripheral vision has been severely limited because of my diabetes, which means I can see just fine looking straight ahead. But if I am at a function with lots of people, I am constantly bumping into people - even kicking them!
It is easy to slip into a parallel universe. There are so many of them: worlds of the insane, the criminal, the crippled, the dying, perhaps of the dead as well. These worlds exist alongside this world and resemble it, but are not in it.
