I hate this expression, but - "thinking outside the box," in terms of how to market and put a Broadway show out into the - allow it to reach the target audience, who can't necessarily spend $120 to come see it.
They are born, put in a box; they go home to live in a box; they study by ticking boxes; they go to what is called "work" in a box, where they sit in their cubicle box; they drive to the grocery store in a box to buy food in a box; they talk about thinking "outside the box"; and when they die they are put in a box.
I remember going onstage on Broadway in this Leigh Bowery thing for a track like "Ich Bin Kunst." I've got breasts, this latex dripping down on my head, and I come out in a box. An audience is the perfect thing to unleash venom and hate on.
